About this deal

Ciolek, Todd (October 11, 2013). "New York Comic Con 2013: Vertical Panel". Anime News Network . Retrieved October 29, 2013. I didn't think that this would be as good as anime (because anime is bloody fantastic), but it was. I loved the art style, characters and above all amazing and brutal story.

I havent had a manga hold my attention for a while to such an extent (apart from usual obsession of those I keep up with xD) High School ran in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from June to August of 2018. This series only had six chapters, and all were collected into a single volume. Spoof on Titan this is one of my favorite animes of all time and honestly, i wasn't planning to read this but thanks to minty for hyping me up 😭 And I hate the art. It looks amateurish to me. There are a few panels that are effective, and the titans' designs are chilling, but in general it just looks clumsy. It seems like the anime has a different, and much better, art style. All of them are kids at this point, I know that, but to say that they don't call my attention is to be fair and nice. All of them annoyed me at least a bit in their own special ways. Our hero is the perpetually constipated Some Guy who wants to join the ineffectual Something Corps who go out and get eaten by the Titans sooner rather than live as well as they can inside the large walls before getting eaten later. To combat the Titans, the humans have developed grappling hooks and spears that don’t work - this is set in the future! The setting is just perfect, because people like their genres, especially fantasy and not so hard science fantasy, without too many techy elements. Sci fi fans like me are more tolerant regarding some wizards and dwarfs in their worldbuilding, but fantasy heads are often a bit fastidious regarding their genre soup. One of the things I never thought I would do was read manga and yet here I am entering my second one and thoroughly enjoying it. After what seems a slow start but still an interesting world-build, the emotional impact is still severe and bone-crunchingly immediate. There's usually never a warning before someone you love dies, but it's doubly so here. The first novel came out in December 2011 and follows a weaponsmith who creates weapons to fight against the Titans.

I enjoyed it and can't wait to see more of this unfolding story. Made more acute from the fact that that cliffhanger was the worst point ever to stop. Which, I suppose, would be the whole point of it. This is one of the best beginnings I've ever read. Chilling, strong, and already setting a place for much bigger things to come. I get the end of the Dark Tower vibes with this opening of Eren waking up crying from a dream at the start of the series, hoping very much I am a bit paranoid with 33 parts still to go.The series has been immensely popular, both in Japan and internationally. It became one of the best and most well-known manga series of all time with sales of over 100 million copies. We don't have to go out-side the walls for our whole life. We can eat, sleep and survive just fine here... but isn't that like being a caged animal?" It´s one of the most graphic and dark mangas I´ve read so far, Death Note, Tokyo Ghoul, and a little bit of Full Metal Alchemist are dark fantasy too, but this one is especially disturbing because of the amazing quality of the art. So maybe not for everyone, but for special people like me, who are into darkness and invite gore, torture, and human suffering in their already struggling souls to feed them with the screams of the dying, a great entertainment. It also introduces some very interesting philosophical ideas that I love and made me stop and think for a moment, which I love, trying to figure out my own views on the matter. Formulaic? Crude? Amateurish? Appalling? Yes, definitely, all of the above. Make no mistake, this series falls squarely into the trash category. Not tongue-in-cheek-I-am-actually-so-above-this pseudo trash, but just plain trash. I mean, this guy tries hard but simply isn't the most gifted of artists. And yet - somehow - he has been able to capture the imagination of millions around the world with this story centered around an eerie mystery: Who are those "titans" that have nearly wiped out humanity? Where do they come from? What do they want? Apart from eating human beings, that is.

I don't know man ... I finished this and started on the second volume and I feel like this might be one of those instances where I just don't get the hype. I also don't understand how this is already up to 11 volumes when ( some spoilers for volume 2 as well) the main character "dies" in the first volume, (though I'm guessing, since I've read a bit of volume 2, that he somehow inhabits one of the Titans, so he's not really dead.) In full honesty, I already know a lot of the story because I just did a marathon of the Anime, but because of how it left off, I'm now in a tear to know what happens. :) So, just to be clear, the Anime is a top-notch production and deserves tons of accolades. I'm pretty sure this manga will step-up, too, so I'm remaining patient. The ending of this volume is very strong, but honestly, I am not entirely certain I like the artwork that much. a b c "ラノベ文庫|進撃の巨人 Before the fall|作品紹介|講談社コミックプラス" (in Japanese). Kodansha . Retrieved May 28, 2014. Maybe there isn't all that much actual fighting just yet but the setting and drama of the whole situation are powerful and very necessary. I loved it. Especially because it's teased at the beginning and it delivered way better than I could have hoped for. I enjoyed this!! 🥰 Super interesting concept and lots of action. That cliffhanger was so cruel tho 😫😫

Sungeki no Kyojin ( 寸劇の巨人, "Titan Short Skits") is a comedic yonkoma manga written and illustrated by Hounori, released on Kodansha's Manga Box smartphone and tablet application from December 2013 to December 30, 2014, in both Japanese and English. [164] The first tankōbon volume was published on August 8, 2014, and the second on April 9, 2015. On that day, mankind received a grim reminder. We lived in fear of the Titans and were disgraced to live in these cages we called walls.” Tropes show how literature is conceptualized and created and which mixture of elements makes works and genres unique: I dived in because I wanted to watch the anime, but felt the need to read it first... Then it just blew me away. I loved everything about this manga... the rawness, the gore... the action...the mystery... omg am just in awe and am eager continue it~~!!!

Zeke, the Beast Titan, rescues Reiner and flees, while the few survivors of the Survey Corps clash between saving Erwin or Armin, who are both on the brink of death. Levi, who has the authority to use the single dose of Titan serum given to him by Kenny, initially wishes to save Erwin but ultimately chooses Armin so that Erwin can rest in peace. Armin transforms into a Titan and eats Bertolt, in the process recovering his human form and inheriting the power of the Colossus Titan, while Erwin passes away. With Shiganshina secured, Eren and the others recover his father's diaries which reveal that mankind beyond the walls has not been wiped out by Titans as the government had led them to believe, but is thriving instead. Grisha's writing explains that all those within the walls are of a race known as Eldians, of whom most are the 'Subjects of Ymir' capable of transforming into Titans, and are oppressed outside the walls by a nation called Marley in retribution for having once allegedly dominated the world using the Titans. Grisha had lived in an Eldian ghetto in Marley; he married Dina Fritz, a woman secretly descended from the same Eldian royalty as the royal family within the walls. Together they tried to stage a rebellion against Marley, but they and their companions were betrayed by Grisha and Dina's son, Zeke, whom Grisha had attempted to use as a double agent by placing him in the Marleyan "Warrior" program of Eldian Titans.
