About this deal

In spite of looking and sounding like a chick lit (because of the cover and title respectively), the book is quite reflective. Watered by tears, warmed by sunny smiles and tended to with care and consideration of those around her, Allegra really can blossom into the person she's always wanted to be. Na de zoveelste parkeerboete bijt hij haar toe dat iedereen het gemiddelde is van de vijf personen met wie ze de meeste tijd doorbrengen, en dat dat in haar geval niet veel goeds voorspelt. The uplifting and emotional Sunday Times top ten bestseller from million-copy bestselling author Cecelia Ahern --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The fact that she often questions her worth broke my heart, and the final scene when she is at the women in business event just made me an emotional mess. Ook al was het niet haar droombaan, ze houdt van de orde, de regels en de duidelijkheid van haar werk. Allegra was always aware of her father’s love for her but she had never known the love of her mother who abandoned them both following Allegra’s birth. An unpleasant encounter with the owner of a Ferrari issued with many parking fines triggers Allegra; she starts looking at who and what made her, especially who are her five people who matter the most. I have read only one book of hers—PS I Love You—and I wasn’t as impressed with it as the rest of the readers seem to be.She is now published in nearly fifty countries, and has sold over twenty-five million copies of her novels worldwide. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Cecelia Ahern is one of the biggest selling authors to emerge in the past fifteen years, having sold more than 25 million copies worldwide in over 50 countries. Told from Allegra’s first person point of view, Ahern also dispenses with quotation marks and this, for me, just added another layer of intimacy. She is lucky when she gets nice accommodation near her place of work and, up to a point, Allegra is content. There's rarely a day that goes by without me having a novel (or a few) in progress and I save yours as my special reads - they are like a treat in the world of books ❣️ thank you, lots of love, Delia.

This was a lovely story about trying to figure out one's place in the world and finding one's group of people one can count on, because no one is an island, even if they live on an island.

I am assuming that a lighter approach was decided upon in how the whole area of mental health was handled, offering the reader what I would describe as a more fairy-tale version.I poured my heart into the story of a woman suffering from grief after the loss of her husband, a woman who had hit the lowest point of her life and was struggling with both the desire and the ability to find her way out of the fog. Pops was a wonderful character, odd in his own way exactly like Allegra but totally accepting of the type of person she was. When a man angry at his parking ticket berates her one day, he says something that shakes Allegra to the core and she starts a new project to surround herself with the type of people she wants to learn from but in the process she learns more about herself. I’ve always written about characters on journeys of self-discovery and increasingly I’ve been writing about outsiders.

She lives on Valentia Island but moves to Dublin to be closer to her mum and hopefully build a relationship with her. Definitely a self-provoking read, only think I’d like to point out is that I might have preferred a direct dialogue between characters. Told in Allegra’s vivid, original voice, moving from Dublin to the fierce Atlantic coast, this is an unforgettable story of human connection, of friendship, and growing into your own skin. Some are great, some are less so, but they all add up to making Allegra who she is whether she likes it or not.Running alongside this is her new job as a traffic warden and the people she gets to know in Dublin. Allegra Bird is 24 jaar oud en woont in Malahide, net buiten Dublin, waar ze werkt als parkeerwacht. Freckles is a charming, uplifting and completely captivating story that will remind you to cherish the glorious people you have in your life, even if we can't see them at the moment.
