About this deal

There are multiple paths of peril for the characters, and just when you think everything has become clear, the ground shifts. I walk the streets on my own, and I don’t find it entertaining or intriguing to read about girls getting drugged and murdered before having their scalps sliced open. He befriends an elderly woman as a drinking buddy, but it turns out that she owes loan sharks from Mexico nearly one million dollars. There is always a great deal of excitement that comes over me when I see a new publication by Jo Nesbø. It’s best to start at the beginning to see not only Harry’s growth but the growth of other characters as well.

Some of the events obviously follow on from the previous book but I don’t feel like I missed out on any information. Nos marean un poco con la identidad del criminal, poco la verdad y al final un acto heróico para poner el broche y acabar con el último de los personajes clásicos que quedaban.

Part 1 is a traditional campy young adult-ish horror story that even though it had some issues, was still entertaining. Karen is an outcast as well and instead of laughing at Richard's story, she encourages him to pursue it, and to hunt down the clues the police refuse to investigate.

The story is filled with red herrings, surprises, and misdirection, and I give Jo Nesbo high marks for a creative plot. Even though Jo Nesbø’s Harry Hole police detective series has run for 13 novels now and has been adapted into one 2017 film, I must admit that I’ve never heard of these books and their protagonist — although its author has made bestseller lists. Harry will need to bring together a misfit team of former operatives in Oslo to do what he can’t do alone: stop an unstoppable killer. In Part 1 the story is pure horror which is when Richard is aged 14 and Part 2 is fifteen years later and several times in this section I almost shout ‘Whaaattt? This book is, at times, a touch grim, the truth behind what happens and why a little … how should I put this?
