The push your luck element is fun and many players, in the first of the three rounds, have not made it back to the sub (with treasure, due to lack of air). I really enjoy the aesthetic, but it would have been cool to have art on the Ruin tokens or something.

When I first played Deep Sea Adventure a few years ago the owner said “you can win this game with one point”. The aim for prospective adventurers, is to leave the submarine, retrieve some treasure, and get back to the airlock before the shared air supply runs out (assume they are all connected to the sub with air hoses). The small box contains a submarine, a marker for air, 6 player pieces and several ruin chips (treasure) tokens and markers. The next round starts with the first player back (handy for the others and you leap frog others when moving – you can’t be on the same wreck). If you take more than three Ruin tokens, though, it becomes very difficult to move (since you take a -3 movement penalty with three movement tokens, and with 6 you cannot move).I'm looking to add a push-your-luck that has dice to my collection, since I have too few dice in my games and no game that involves these mechanic. Turn Back; When you turn back is perhaps the most important moment in the game – grab the first treasure as you turn back, and then start to rush towards the submarine.

Deep Sea Adventure is also a reactionary game, if one person picks up then everyone else almost always follows. As a young start up explorer, keen to find alluring sea treasure, you set out on an epic adventure to the deepest depths to discover the most lucrative artefacts. Being too conservative actually aids the other players, and playing high risk is generally bad for everyone but especially bad for you. Generally, I get pissy when games have multiple-round “games” that don’t really have any significant state change between each round, solely to up the game’s play time.It will take them a while to get back to the submarine, but if they make it, they're likely to win this round - or at least come second.
