About this deal

Kansas Kansas started out as a bar band playing cover versions of contemporary songs and soul oldies in the American state… The success of “The Bump” was followed up with the similar sounding “Fancy Pants,” “Baby I Love You OK” and “Julie Anne.” Their debut album, The Sound of Super K—what a title, eh?—included uncredited contributions from journeyman guitarist Chris Spedding and legendary session drummer Clem Cattini. It didn’t sell that well. In 1976, Kenny went to court to sever their ties with Martin & Coulter and RAK Records. Martin & Coulter moved on to Slik who covered “Fancy Pants” and had another hit with it. Chris Redburn became a successful road haulage businessman (he owns music transportation company, Redburn Transfer) and continued to gigs with Andy Walton as The Legendary Old Brown Growlers. Stile set up his own PA hire company.

Kenny – яркий представитель британской Glam-Pop сцены 70-х годов прошлого столетия. А история группы началась довольно интересно. All inconsequentially catchy and topped with a trademark falsetto in unison with Driscoll, these were The Bump (a dance craze ditty that fought off competition from a B-side version by the Bay City Rollers), Fancy Pants, Baby I Love You OK and autumn 1975’s Top 20 swansong, Martin and Coulter’s Julie Ann. Kent, David (1993). Australian Chart Book 1970–1992 (illustrateded.). St Ives, N.S.W.: Australian Chart Book. p.165. ISBN 0-646-11917-6. Songwriters Bill Martin and Phil Coulter had used session musicians to record their hit The Bump. So the two men looked around for some young faces to fit their music. I then proceeded to become oddly fascinated by this awful band, this Kenny. Soon I’d fallen into a K-hole, but thankfully it wasn’t much deeper than a mud puddle (and I happen to really like Mud.)Normally the editorial policy here at Dangerous Minds—such that there is one—is that we tend to post about things we actually like, can get behind and want to enthusiastically share with our readers. It’s difficult to write about stuff you hate and who wants to participate in a “Hey, smell this, it smells like shit” sort of arrangement? Neither reader nor writer? Well, this post will be a departure from all that… Maggie Bell Margaret "Maggie" Bell was born on 12 January 1945, at Maryhill, Glasgow, in Scotland. She began singing in her teenage years and… Liverpool Express Liverpool Express was formed (in Liverpool, natch) by Billy Kinsley, Roger Scott Craig, Tony Coates, and Derek Cashin in 1975… They released a single, Hot Lips– which ironically was almost a carbon copy of a Martin and Coulter composition – and a second album, Ricochet, before disappearing without trace. The Bump» последовали похожие по звучанию «Fancy Pants», «Baby I Love You OK» и «Julie Anne». Их дебютный альбом The Sound of Super K Polydor Records.

They struggled for independence from the famous production team, but Martin and Coulter were adamant that Kenny was their creation and they were entitled to keep hold of the name – regardless of what individual band members did. Most then decided to capitalise on their success by renaming a completely unconnected Enfield band named Chuff, as Kenny. [2] Former child actor Keith Chegwin was considered as lead singer but he declined. [3] Martin and Coulter wrote the bulk of the successful songs for the group, starting with "The Bump", which reached the Top 3 in the UK Singles Chart. They had three further records reach that chart in the UK: "Fancy Pants", "Baby I Love You, OK!", and "Julie Anne". [2] The band were at one stage managed by John Morris, the husband of singer Clodagh Rodgers. [4] But when Yan Style was seriously injured in a car crash, paralysing his arm, Kenny called it a day. The Bump” had a lasting impact on popular music and dance culture. Its success helped to solidify disco as a genre and made the bump dance craze a part of American pop culture. The song’s message of solidarity and community continues to resonate with listeners today, serving as a reminder of the unifying power of music and dance.
