About this deal

This is not a relaxing game at all and not for those who may get even a small amount of anxiety because this will bring it out. Let’s Build A Zoo with Dinosaur Island DLCis available now on PlayStation 4 & 5 (reviewed on latter), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series S|X, and PC via Steam.

The Dinosaur DLC is a fantastic addition to an already great game and is much of the same set up as your original zoo. You can fly there while working on your current zoo, and with you you’ll take a small stipend to set things up. The different dinosaurs are discovered and gain entry to your zoo through a group of palaeontologists who you can pay to discover more variants of dinosaur. With 51 dinosaurs to discover and display in your zoo, there is a lot of digging to be done. From your favourite stegosaurus to extinct mammals like woolly mammoths.Developed by Springloaded and published by No More Robots, we finally have a console release of the ever-popular pixel-sim title, Let’s Build A Zoo. The game is available now across all platforms. Not Just Another Zoo Sim! Carp-e diem! If you're looking for aquarium DLC for your favorite zoo management sim, you've come to the right plaice. Let's Build A Zoo puts you in charge of your own animal sanctuary, where you can build beautiful enclosures and fill them with a whole host of different animals. It's your choice whether to be an eager beaver with grand designs, or let it all descend into otter chaos. Let’s Build A Zoo is always throwing new things at you without letting the previous stuff get stale."

Still, Let’s Build a Zoo’s comedic approach to zoo management belies just how deep it is. It isn’t perfect and I’d love a patch that halved the number of animals you need for splicing, but seeing your visitors gawp in wonder at your creations is worth the price of admission alone. The moral choices it throws at you, which aren’t all just for the sake of being evil, elevate it even further. If you’ve the slightest interest interest in sim games, you’ll have hour after hour of ethically-dubious fun with Let’s Build a Zoo.

If you think we're serving you a bait and switch, think again! I won't be so koi about the huge amount of stuff to do in Aquarium Odyssey, including 100+ new shops, decorations, facilities, enclosures and more. Honestly, any fin is possible. Let's Build a Zoo is simple enough on the surface that you can play as casually as you'd like, building a fancy zoo and keeping your guests happy. But for those players who like a deeper simulation, there are numerous underlying systems that can be utilized and explored. After that you’re on your own though and for a while there’s a lot to learn and it’s not clear how you should proceed. The thing is that you can’t massively go wrong so it’s not really about success and failure but rather the sort of improvement-based progression that will appeal to the OCD in us that wants us to create not just a great zoo but also an efficient and optimised one. If you need some footnotes, then I’ve got you: Let’s Build A Zoo takes the retro-style of old school Theme Park, and adds a lot more gusto. Players are here to build and run a zoo from the ground up to success. Everything is customizable, from the type of animals you have, to the paths you build, to the amount you pay your staff. Everything, including being a morally corrupt human that PETA would have a field day over. Yes, that is right, you can choose to have the best zoo to ever zoo in Zootown, or turn your animals into bacon. In the additional DLC, you can hollow out your dead dinosaurs for small children to play in. It is devilishly fantastic. On jumping into the game you are asked to choose your avatar from a selection shown on the screen. Secondly, you are asked to name your first Zoo. If you are indecisive like me this might take more than it should. You are then taken on a tutorial for this park management similar. This shows you everything from local menus (in-game) and how to build, to looking after your animals and guests. I am not going to lie, it took me a while to get to grips with everything in my first zoo. For instance, the first time playing, I totally forgot to feed my animals (not good right?). Choose Your Mascot!

Construct and decorate enclosures, buy and breed animals, hire zookeepers and vets... then try your hand at DNA splicing, and stitch together over 300,000 different types of animal. This can only go smoothly... Escape to a brand new DINOSAUR ISLAND and discover a world of prehistoric beasts. Start a brand new zoo complete with terrifying (and adorable!) creatures, brand new themed shops and a whole host of new decorations to give your guests the ultimate dinosaur experience!

With all that said, everything else is translated pretty well and makes the game relatively easy to play with an attempt to use as little buttons as possible trying not to convolute the controls. It’s a hard task but one I think Springloader has done creatively and intelligently. Dinosaur Island Expansion DLC Its very in depth game that may work for some people, but to me, it felt like a job that I should be getting paid to manage this much stuff that is hard to see. At certain points the pacing also just feels off. Its a weird combination of too much waiting and micromanaging a mess in between a lot of waiting and hoping your waiting pays off and results in profit. Experience Springloaded's Zoo management sim Let's Build A Zoo, alongside the newest DLC, Let's Build A Zoo: Dinosaur Island! It's not all cheerful panda-ing though, as Let's Build A Zoo can get pretty dark if you let it. Sure, you can build a loving environment for your animals, guests and staff... but with a fully-fledged morality system, you have the choice to go down an evil path, work your staff to the bone, and essentially turn your zoo into a meat factory. Oh deer, oh deer.

Let's Build a Zoo, if you've not yet had the pleasure, melds familiar zoo tycoon gameplay - in which the aim is to build and manage an appealing (and hopefully lucrative) park, importing and breeding animals, managing staff, and so on - with a couple of unique twists. To play this game on PS5, your system may need to be updated to the latest system software. Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available on PS4 may be absent. See PlayStation.com/bc for more details. Feel like running a zoo, populated with all manner of disturbing hybrids? Ever wonder if a rabbit would still be as cute if it had a snake’s head? It feels really fast paced with the day to day too. There is a pause mechanic of course but to see if things work or not you get a small window of opportunity to make corrections and with all the systems running it just sorta made me feel incredibly anxious. In terms of niggles, we’ve not got many. The main one initially is that the game uses Windows-style er… windows with the X in the corner. However, you don’t press X to close them. You press the circle button. This is surprisingly irritating early on but you do get used to it. And there is a recurring thing where our cursor kept disappearing. We’re not sure what causes it or how we kept fixing it but it’s an annoyance. You start as the manager of a brand-new zoo, and after a few tutorial screens you’re left with a blank canvas of land and the freedom to mould it any way you want. You start with two main ways to gain new animals: rescuing them from an independent shelter, or trading with other zoos across the globe. Eventually attendees come to see these animals, and your goal is to keep everybody happy and make tons of money along the way. Your adventures on this unexplored Dinosaur Island will be full of brand new quests, moral choices and news articles. Build a successful Zoo in this lush, fresh setting, and make meaningful choices to shape it! Watching these systems interact is when Let’s Build A Zoo is at its best, and playing around with them is encouraged by the addition of an in-game morality meter. You’re given multiple “critical choices” throughout the game that present some sort of moral dilemma. You’re often given only two decisions to choose from: one that benefits you in the short term but lowers your morality score, or a more charitable action that does little other than raise that same score.
