About this deal

The boys leave all their weapons and head to the city, which is surrounded by a strange fog, one which cannot be penetrated in Tel’aran’rhiod. In the center of Rhuidean, Rand enters a crystal ter'angreal, where he starts to see visions of Aiel long dead, including most of the important events from their history. He learns the truth that most Aiel don't know; that once, they followed the Way of the Leaf. In fact, the original, full name of the Aiel, "Da'shain Aiel", means “dedicated to peace” in the Old Tongue. Rand also learns that the Tuatha’an are descended from the same people in the Age of Legends. He sees Couladin's first-brother, Muradin, apparently dying. This sends Rand to Rhuidean. This is a city in which no one is allowed to speak of or enter. This is probably the most interesting part of the book, but leaves Rand with the mark of dragons up his arms which will be important later. As a young boy, he was trained by Gareth Bryne and Henre Haslin with the sword. Several times during this period he saved the life of Gawyn who is six years his junior. Mat asks Egwene for advice and she tells him about a ter'angreal which will grant three answers to any who enter. He claims not to be interested.

Nynaeve and Elayne, along with Thom Merrilin and Juilin Sandar, are taken to Tanchico by the Sea Folk who reveal their own prophecies about Rand. Perrin’s party sets out, split in two; Loial, Faile, Bain, and Chiad in one group, with Perrin and Gaul following. They enter the Waygate. The Wheel has turned, for better or worse. And it will keep on turning, as lights die and forests dim, storms call and skies break. Turn it will. The Wheel is not hope, and the Wheel does not care, the Wheel simply is. But so long as it turns, folk may hope, folk may care. For with light that fades, another will eventually grow, and each storm that rages must eventually die. As long as the Wheel turns." Chapter 37 has three points of view, two of which are from Rand al'Thor's POV. His first is 47% of the chapter and his second is 4% of the chapter. During the events in Ebou Dar, Mat meets a Seanchan High Lady by the name of Tuon, who Egeanin calls Daughter of the Nine Moons, the woman Mat knows he is fated to marry. After being confronted by her, Mat reluctantly kidnaps Tuon from the Tarasin Palace and takes her along for his escape from the city alongside her Voice, Selucia. He names Tuon his wife three times, unknowingly completing half of the Seanchan marriage ceremony, in response to which Tuon simply smiles. At first, Tuon calls Mat "Tylin's Toy" or "Toy" for short, which Mat repays by referring to Tuon as "Precious" for a while. During their journey, much to Egeanin's dissatisfaction, Mat begins to court Tuon in earnest, frequently giving her gifts, going on walks with her, and playing stones with her, seeming to finally accept his fate. Tuon's responses are never anything less than opaque, though, and when they finally do marry, it seems almost entirely a political match on her behalf, despite it being clear clear that Mat has sincere feelings for her.Rand uses a Portal Stone to transport Mat, Egwene, Moiraine, and the Aiel at the Stone of Tear from Tear to the Aiel Waste, where Taardad and Shaido Aiel are waiting for them. The Aiel Wise Ones have Moiraine, Aviendha, and Rand enter Rhuidean, and allow Mat to go with Rand. All three enter ter'angreal in Rhuidean. When Moiraine comes out, she has some knowledge of the future. Rand comes out with dragon markings on both arms, proving him to be He Who Comes With the Dawn, the Car'a'carn, the Chief of Chiefs of all the Aiel. Mat goes into a doorway ter'angreal which leads him to the land of the Eelfinn. He comes out with the gaps in his memory filled with those of men long dead, which also grant him fluency in the Old Tongue. He was also gifted with a spear called an ashandarei and a medallion ter'angreal that protects against the One Power. Rand finds that Mat had been hanged from the Tree of Life, but Rand was able to revive Mat. The female sorcerers in the series are called Aes Sedai – a sort of Bene Gesserit-like organisation of which Pike’s character Moiraine is a member. Moiraine, who is actually one of Jordan’s better characters, is looking for the Dragon Reborn, a reincarnation of the male sorcerer who took on Shai’tan generations earlier. She believes he is one of three teenage boys living in the small village of Emond’s Field. I am going to review this book spoiler free to begin with and then with spoilers later just in case readers have not read the book yet. Wheel of Time Shadow Rising Spoiler Free Review

Galad fares better than Gawyn, but still Demandred is too skilled for him. Despite taking a cut to the knee, the Forsaken wins when a slice to Galad's arm tears the muscle, leaving him unable to grip his sword. He strikes Galad's sword arm off at the elbow and strikes him down, roaring to the Dragon that he has beaten his brother, the man in white. After fighting breaks out among the Aiel, Rand chases after Asmodean, who had previously been disguised as a gleeman traveling with the merchants. Going by the alias Jasin Natael, Asmodean is after the ter'angreal access keys to the Choedan Kal, the most powerful sa'angreal ever constructed. They battle at Rhuidean and Rand defeats Asmodean by cutting him off from the Dark One. After the fight, Lanfear appears and, after considering other possibilities, shields Asmodean partly and gives him to Rand as a companion: Asmodean will be forced to teach Rand how to use the One Power (something only a Forsaken can do) because the Shadow will now believe him to be a traitor. of Ch2, Ch3, 9% of Ch9, 60% of Ch14, 63% of Ch16, Ch18, Ch27 through 30, 65% of Ch31, Ch32, 33, Ch40 through 45, Ch53, and 95% of Ch56Nynaeve and Elayne, along with Thom and Juilin, set off for Tanchico on a Sea Folk ship, which only agrees to take them because they believe they are serving Rand. Elayne suspects that she knows Thom. The Windfinder teaches Elayne a great deal about controlling the weather. He enjoys gambling and drinking, as well as pursuing women, though he is careful never to pursue one who isn't open to his attentions. This love of gambling extends to a love of tactics, as Mat views battles as being the ultimate gamble. He is also extremely pragmatic, shirking possessions or clothing that is not practical or useful.

However, this isn’t just Rand’s story. It would be a terribly boring book if it was.Thisseries does have thestandard fantasy trope of the light versus the dark, but the world is much more complex than that. It is full of factions that attempt to do good, namely The White Cloaks, though they are completely misguided and tend to do very stupid things. They are noble-hearted men, for the most part, and they remain true to theircause, but they cannot identify evil. These fools deserve pity more than anything. The same is true for theAesSedai; they attempt a controlling approach, and whilstsome oftheiractions are benevolent, they do lean towards tyranny. Sometimes theyjustneed to guide mankind, togive him a gentle push, rather than try to control him directly.Gandalf managed it inThe Lord of the Rings. At one point, Mat refers to having "four sisters" willing to tattle on him when he was up to any mischief. [5] This can be regarded as an error, however, as he also refers only two sisters, Eldrin and Bodewhin, in the same context in the next book. Furthermore, no other sisters are ever mentioned in the series, even when other members of his family are kidnapped by Whitecloaks and the book Glossary and The Wheel of Time Companion seem consistent in this fact in the relevant entries. [6] Relationships It is very hard to judge your own material but I have a gut feeling that this next album will be the best I have ever been part of. Mike Stark about the upcoming Stormburner recordPerrin learns that two Aes Sedai, Alanna and Verin, are in the area, ostensibly to look for recruits. He meets several families and convinces them to move to the village for their own safety. He also meets a man calling himself Lord Luc, who he does not trust, though the others think highly of him. Some of the young men agree to go with Perrin to free the Whitecloaks' prisoners. After doing so, he goes hunting Trollocs. After initial success, he and his men are ambushed and many of them are killed. Perrin is severely injured. They spend the night with the Tuatha'an before returning to Emond's Field, where Alanna Heals him. Faile tells Perrin about her father, Davram Bashere. Perrin talks to Slayer in dreams and notices how much he resembles Lan. Loial and Gaul go to shut the Waygate permanently; Slayer has told Perrin it is open again. Merlin was known for the ability to shape-shift, changing his appearance to disguise his identity. Thom is an excellent spy with the ability to blend into any situation without appearing out of place.
